Local SEO Checklist for Small Businesses

A simple, step-by-step checklist to help nearby customers find your business on Google and Google Maps.

When someone searches for a service near them, such as a dentist or a graphic designer near them, Google shows a map and a short list of businesses. Local SEO is how you earn a place on that list. The good news is that most of it is free.

1. Claim and complete your Google Business Profile

Add your exact business name, address, phone number, opening hours, categories and photos. Choose the main category carefully, because it tells Google what you do. Ask happy customers for honest reviews and reply to every one.

2. Keep your name, address and phone the same everywhere

Use the same details on your website, Facebook page and any directories. Small differences confuse search engines.

3. Write a page for each service and area

Instead of one long page, create a clear page for each service you offer, and mention the area you serve naturally. Use words your customers actually type.

4. Make your site fast on mobile

Most local searches happen on phones. Compress images, avoid heavy sliders and test your site on a real device on mobile data.

5. Add a clear call to action

Put your phone number, WhatsApp button and a short contact form where people can find them quickly. Ranking is only useful if visitors can contact you.

6. Track what works

Connect Google Search Console and Google Analytics so you can see which searches bring visitors, and improve those pages first.

Local SEO takes patience. Most businesses see steady improvement over a few months, not overnight. If you would like a hand, we offer SEO services and a free website review.
